How I Conquered My Fear: First Motorcycle Ride After Breaking My Ribs!
As I watched you in the sidecar Saffy, I couldn't make out if you were terrified or enjoying it but you did confirm at the end. Being a crazy rider yourself, I am sure you will enjoy riding one of these beasts. I know I keep asking but what is happening with your Honda CB500x.😊👍🏍
It was very scary 😂 but a good kind of scary 😂
Now we know why Olive from "On the Buses" hated her husband like she did :D
50 years or more, all we had was a Vincent with double adult side car. With my sister, and big German shepherd, mother was on the back of the bike.🥳
Woooooow Saffy!!! 🌈🌟👏🙏💯😇
🥰
How I enjoy your smile and your happiness in the entire Sardinia series Saffy!!! 😃
Your bike has pink wheels. You don't need a hi-viz jacket.
They're not pink anymore :d
This is what your grand parents (if they were affluent) would be privileged to go to the shops in wearing their Sunday best, and be the envy of the street. You have to remember that the wife on the pillion and the TWO kids in the sidecar would be able to take the whole family out to a picnic in the countryside OR to the seaside that very few people would ever see in their life's, so you would have been the envy of the street. My father actually had a motorbike and sidecar.
So glad you enjoyed your first go in a sidecar! Do perservere and learn to drive one. I have had a sidecar of one kind or another since 1990 and prefer the combination for touring in the Alps and Europe. You see more scenery than on a solo and get to meet more folk because people always come up to talk every time you stop. Of course, if you are in the chair, remember, you are the equivalent of Gromit . . . .
Your record matches mine for losing them. Worse now with contactless fob as if you drop them engine keeps going. I used to keep them on a bunch and a couple of times I’ve ridden off with them in too box lock. Separate clipped in belt loop now
"I expect a nice gentle ride" 😆
I owned a Ural dnieper combination and it was my daily transport to work and back rode it through snow and ice absolutely loved it total cost bike and sidecar £750 but it was 1976 lol, would love another one. It even had piston rings in the tool kit lol!
About the DVLA code. As a Belgian visitor, whe do not have such a thing. Manufacturers do NOT allow any foreign biker to test ride their bikes. Most European countries do not use DVLA codes. After visiting ABR for the 3rd year, this issue still has not changed. Test ride all you want, as long as you are from the UK
Forgot to post the competition link! Sorry 😅 www.sidecarexperience.co.uk/crowdfunder Here you guys go! 🎉
Hi Saffy, I can't seem to find the competition link you mentioned?
www.sidecarexperience.co.uk/crowdfunder Whoops! Here we go
@@SaffySprocket Thank you X
Yup. They certainly are good fun. My old Dad used to race them in his younger years, as well as midgets. They're pretty wild n woolly with a slightly different set-up to what you rode in with the Ural. If you do a search you'll be able to find footage of side car race meets, then you'll see what I mean lol. When Dad was in his mid 60's he bought himself a Sportster with a side car conversion - his last hoorah. He enjoyed himself. And, of course, my Nana n Pop (Dad's parents) had a Harley Davidson side car as their main, and only, mode of transport (apart from the horse and dray, that is) after they were married back in the 1930's! I remember Nana telling the story about Pop negotiating his way through the scrub (outback Australia) at rather a rapid pace, with Nana perched in the old side car having to duck and weave to avoid being wiped out by the rather large sapling pines. Yip. Those were the days.. ;) Just a thought.. but I do wonder if I am indeed the only female subscriber you have?! 🤔😛
How cool😂
😂
Sadly I didn't get the opportunity to have go .. next time definitely on the list 👍👍
You should!
Did you say there's a competition to win a Ural? Now that would be cool!
Yes!
@@SaffySprocket is there a link for the comp? What a great prize!
After watching this, I doubt if anyone could say sidecars are dull lol.
It was far from dull 😂 it was amazing
Hi Saffy🙋 Wow! A cool ride.I've never been on a bike with a side car.Reminded me,of watching old 1940's world war 2 movies. The German's used them a lot.Hope you didn't pee your pants, you were getting quite excited.
hi sa Nice Ride experience in Side Car URAL,Russian Made Motorcycles used by Russian Defense Personnel during WW2.The Soviet union countries most pride motorcycles URAL inspired by BMW
Why do I think that poor man is going to need hearing aids now? lol You can always tell how much Saffy is enjoying herself by her volume. 🤣
Noise induced sprocket related hearing loss 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😂
Looked like great fun and a great weekend,😊
It was!
Excellent 😂 probably should put warning for headphone users tho 🤣
😂 they're deaf now after me losing my mind
I’m 100% positive Saffy is my kind of people
Mental 😂?
@@SaffySprocket nailed it 🤪🤣
haha I hoped you went on a sidecar ride on the festival to pull out those lovely saffy giggles. I'm looking forward to the vid of you drive one yourself. I know how it surprised me when I bought one after almost 20y riding motorcycles. But its soo much fun! 😀👍
Ural the soviet bmw.
"When you drove past it sounded like you had a broken wheel bearing or so!" "Ah, no! That was the lass in me side car! 😊"
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's the first time I've seen leather gloves with white knuckles! Makes you appreciate Wallace and Gromit all the more!
I felt like Wallace and gromit 😂
You were certainly hanging upon for grime death 🤣🤣🤣 I rode a 1954 BSA M33 500cc single cylinder combination, with plunger rear suspension, back in the 1960's and they are quite an experience after using a solo bike, you have to steer and not just lean when going into corners otherwise the combo will just go straight on, as I found out when first riding it. Also, as you found out, it's easy to lift the chair when R.H. cornering. But when you go back to riding a solo machine remember to put you feet down when coming to a stop. They can be fun riding when with your mates, 1 in the chair and 1 on the pillion seat - 3 up.
Wonderful.
Many thanks!
Saffy you very, very lucky devil you, that must have been an INCREDIBLE experience to be in a sidecar, I used to ride a bike but due to health issues I'm on 4 wheel's now I truly hope it's not your last time 👍👍👍👏👏👏
My neighbours have just come round.. all the squeals and shrieks, they thought i was murdering my girlfriend. I had to explain it was just Saffy Sprocket on a sidecar, and they walked away shaking their heads..
Nice) Probably best feelings) For me its so strange, because passenger sit on the left side🙃
That was like a fairground ride when they shout "scream if you wanna go faster" 😂
Bet your a real laugh at the fairground Saffy hahaha, as they say there’s a first time for everything, really enjoyed your vid 🤣👍🏼👍🏼
Such a beautiful noise. Saffy screaming her head off lol 😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂
Brilliant laugh Saffy 🤣
😂😂😂😂
But surely all sidecars need machine guns fitted 🤣😜😂, and yes , “the scream giggle is strong within this one “ 😃🍻
You did make me chuckle saffy, I hope the chap was wearing ear plugs your screaming 😱 reached mega decibels 😅 .Best wishes Roy.
😂 he was probably more scared of me than I was of the sidecar
@@SaffySprocket your probably right!
That was funny ,Saffy was screaming like she was on a rollercoaster 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 it was terrifying
The old bloke next door to me has one of those , and I chuckle every time he goes out in it because? He looks like Wallace from Wallace and Gromit riding a bike 😂😂😂😂
It feels like Wallace and gromit when you're in it too 😂😂😂😂
Someone had fun! Walked past them loads of times and did take a pic.
They were taking people out all day! You should have had a go!
@@SaffySprocket I missed the axe throwing, shooting and folk music in the tea pot also😉
You are so comical but at same time trying to stay serious ❤❤❤
I try 😂
Saffy you reached a personal best of giggles and squeals per minute, a high note I'm sure was in a radio band, and probably broke your mic, but doesn't it feel good to try something different 😂😘
It was terrifyingly good 😂😂😂😂
Best laugh I've had all day...!
😂😂😂
Glad you met the sidecar guys. Have you read their book about their world trip in a scooter/sidecar combo? Epic stuff.
I haven't! But he did assure me that he's rode them all over the world and has never crashed one when he had me in the air 😂😂😂
Haha, my first ever experience with a motorbike was in a BSA side-car when I was maybe 3 years old.
Ah woooow! Baby biker
I would say its still growing in the US, but only because its more accessable.. accessible... hold on.... accessible. yay google. i bought my first bike with 0 experience and the dealership was like... sure. 8500$ and its yours. done deal. that was in may. im taking the msf course this friday [2 months after i bought it.] i was pulled over once. no license, only reg and and insurance [not including my regular car license] and as soon as i told the cop i was taking the course in less than 2 weeks, he was like.. oh ok. and sent me off with just a verbal warning. whereas i looked up what you have to do in the UK and sweet jesus is it a process. 0 experience and i bought a 2024 ninja 500 krt se, no questions asked and rode it off the lot. over hear its pretty much a hobby. we dont need bikes and typically theyre just our second or 3rd option of transportation but its till a goal for most kids over here i think to get one... so i think it kinda depends on where you live.
That is insane 😂 you would absolutely never get away with riding around like that here! You'd get pulled in less than an hour
@SaffySprocket yeah for sure. With how the UK limits your CCs and all that and the process alone. I'm not saying people should, but it's a fully acceptable and known thing for someone here in the US to just buy a litre bike right off the bat for their first bike with 0 experience. To be fair, anyone with a lick of sense will say, "Don't do this." But if you find yourself surrounded by say.. 7 or more bikers, at least one of them will say they started on a [700 or higher].... But yeah. People... don't do that. Most bikers don't think you're cool for doing it. We think you're an idiot.
